Alumno, a specialised developer of student accommodation, has officially unveiled the Terry Frost Building in Leeds, featuring six and seven stories to meet the city's growing student population. Named after the renowned abstract artist who taught at Leeds College of Art, the building, located on Whitelock Street in the Sheepscar district, comprises 105 units providing accommodation for 411 students. The project, designed by Howarth Litchfield architects, constructed by GMI Construction Group, and managed by RPS Group, regenerates a previously disused site, offering 11,955 sqm of space.
Noteworthy amenities within the Terry Frost Building include communal areas, a central hub, gym, cinema, laundry room, roof terrace with a garden, and secure bicycle storage. To further engage with the surrounding communities, Alumno has integrated commissioned artworks into the public areas surrounding the development. Additionally, the scheme introduces an onsite Asian street food restaurant, contributing to the building's mixed-use character.
